Desko document scanner

Updated this week

With document scanners, you avoid manual entry on computers, which is often prone to errors, and speed up the check-in process. The scanner reads all important data and transfers it to the OTA Sync software application. This allows the data to be automatically transferred to the guests profile in a matter of seconds.

The OTA Sync software can be integrated with the DESKO scanner, which specializes in scanning IDs and travel documents such as ID cards and passports. The scanner works on the principle of OCR (Optical Character Recognition), or optical recognition of characters within the MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) zones on biometric personal documents.

How to activate the integration with the DESKO document scanner?

Go to the All settings > Marketplace > Desko scan > Activate

Note: After the activation of the module, it is needed to contact OTA Sync technical support to finish the set up in order for the integration to work.

When the user swipes the ID or travel document through the scanner, the application is able to automatically read the guests data visible from the MRZ zone. The data obtained in this way are placed in the appropriate fields in the application and drastically reduce the time of document processing, because the fields are automatically read and entered. In this way, the possibility of an input error is reduced.

The fields that can be read from the passport are:

  • Document type

  • Country of issue of the document

  • Last name

  • Name

  • Passport number

  • Citizenship

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • date of validity of the document

  • unique identity number of citizens

The fields that can be read from the ID card are:

  • Document type

  • Country of issue of the document

  • ID number

  • unique identity number of citizens

  • Date of birth

  • Gender

  • Date of validity of the document

  • Citizenship

  • Last name

  • Name
